Your fitness brand does some real heavy lifting, with insight, advice, and info that help your audience excel at their wellness goals.

Adding an editing layer fine-tunes your content—online, print, and social—giving your reader immediate confidence in your expertise.

Why hire an editor for your publication?

The average reader can make sense of most unedited content—so why would you pay to have someone review it for grammatical, syntax, and factual errors?

Before the internet became a one-stop shop of information that Jo Blo could share just as easily as any expert, the content we read was edited to near perfection before it was ever printed or shared. Because of this, even someone who doesn’t know a comma from an apostrophe knows what quality writing should look and read like. An article or blog post with errors—even just a few—stands out immediately as less reliable, less factual, and less helpful.

With all the misinformation around health and fitness these days, you want your content to spark confidence in your readers, not unease. Unfortunately, it often doesn’t matter how well-researched or well-meaning your information. At the end of the day, well-edited content reduces page bounces, increases time-on-page metrics, and raises your overall trustworthiness in the eyes of the great Google.

How can I help?

There are plenty of ways we can work together, depending on your publishing frequency, content calendar, and budget.

  • Bring me on as a one-time reviewer to make sure your first edition is crystal clear and matches your style guide like a monochrome sweat suit.

  • (Don’t have a style guide? I can help with that, too.)

  • Book me ahead of time to review each upcoming issue or release of your magazine or website—bi-weekly, monthly, quarterly, or any other frequency you like.

  • Reach out to chat about a version that works for you, from high-level proofreading right before publication to the nitty gritty stylistic editing of the first draft.

Why am I qualified to edit your fitness publication?

Before I became certified as a fitness instructor, trainer, and yoga teacher, I got my journalism degree and was a professional editor.

I spent many years as a content manager for Canada’s largest digital publishing firm (manning multiple properties, including a health and fitness site). Today, I continue to copyedit scientific journals and help small businesses fine-tune their on-page content to ensure it backs up their professional prowess as clearly, confidently, and concisely as possible.

As a result, I hold both the editing and fitness knowledge essential to taking your excellent content to the final stage.

Pricing

Pricing is customized for your project. My average per-word rate for stylistic editing is $0.05/word.

Stylistic editing includes a review of sentence and paragraph structure, readability, grammar and syntax, matching style guide, voice preferences, and reading level, and recommending larger changes (besides typos and grammar flubs) as needed. It does not include fact-checking.

Proofreading is $0.02–0.03/word. This service includes general grammar and spelling errors. It does not include fact-checking.

My rates vary based on the frequency of the work, the number of sessions, and other factors. If you don’t know the word count, no worries! We can use a different metric to build out your unique pricing.

Drop me a line or fill out the form to let me know what you’re looking for, and I’ll get back to you with a quote and a suggested time for a free 20-minute consultation.
